We all have them. Those small pockets of fat that we just can’t seem to get rid of no matter how hard we diet and exercise. Luckily, there is liposuction, a minimally invasive treatment that removes unwanted fat from almost any area on the body including the abdomen, buttocks, cheeks, chin, hips, knees, neck, thighs, and upper arms. Liposuction is not a weight loss technique, it is a body contouring technique that specifically targets fatty bulges to sculpt and re-contour the affected areas so that they are more proportional to the rest of your body.* The result is a firmer, leaner, younger looking you.*
Liposuction surgery can be used as a stand-alone procedure or in combination with another cosmetic procedure such as abdominoplasty, neck lift, face lift, or other body contouring procedures. Dr. David Sieber has completed advanced training in all of the latest fat loss technologies, and brings his extensive expertise and artistic eye to every patient that he sees. A successful liposuction procedure is one that provides natural looking balance to your face and body.* The best candidate for liposuction surgery is physically healthy, and within 10 lbs. of his goal weight, but with areas of excess fat that are simply resistant to regular diet and exercise.
LIPOSUCTION TECHNIQUE
During your liposuction procedure, Dr. Harish Ghildiyal will make a series of small incisions in the areas being treated. A fluid is then placed through these incisions to both numb the area and make removal of the fat easier with a narrow, blunt-tipped tube called a cannula. Once your ideal contour has been achieved, the incisions are closed with sutures which will be removed in the office one week after surgery.

LIPOSUCTION IMPROVEMENTS
PREPARING FOR LIPOSUCTION SURGERY
As with any major surgery, all medications and supplements which cause an increased risk of bleeding should be stopped 2 weeks prior to surgery. Please see our list of medications and supplements to avoid. As always, make sure to check with your doctor before stopping any medications.
RECOVERY FROM LIPOSUCTION SURGERY
Immediately after surgery, you will be put in a compression garment to help reduce the accumulation of fluid beneath the skin. This should be worn day and night for 6-8 weeks following surgery. Your binder, or compression garment, may be removed to shower. Typically, recovery from liposuction is relatively quick.* Most patients are ready to go back to work within a couple of days. Pain is minimal and usually well controlled with medication. You will have moderate swelling and bruising for a few days to weeks after the procedure, but this will subside with time.*
You should be up and walking immediately after surgery. If you’re feeling up to it, you should be able to return to your normal exercise routine within 1-2 weeks after surgery.*
You may notice some swelling for the first couple of weeks after surgery that may take up to 3 months to fully resolve. You can expect your final results somewhere between 3-6 months following your procedure.*
Frequently Asked Questions
Will having liposuction help me lose weight?
Liposuction is not a weight loss procedure. It’s a body contouring procedure that will remove stubborn pockets of fat and help your clothes fit better, but most patients do not lose any significant amount of weight from liposuction.
What happens to the extra skin after liposuction?
The amount of skin contraction which occurs after liposuction surgery is going to be dependent on your age and the quality of your skin.* Healthy skin usually contracts after surgery. During your initial consultation, Dr. Harish Ghildiyal will access your anatomy as well as your skin to tell you whether or not he feels that liposuction will be able to meet your goals or if you’ll need additional surgery to remove and contour any excess skin.
If I gain weight, will the fat return to the areas where I had liposuction?
Though liposuction removes your fatty tissue, gaining a significant amount of weight after surgery will adversely affect your results since you will regain fatty tissue proportionally throughout your body. Liposuction results are best maintained by those patients who eat a healthy diet, exercise regularly and maintain a stable weight.*
